This cafe has been feeding Margate since just after the war, 1946 to be exact, and under the current family since 2000. Nothing about the idea has changed: big plates, fair portions, friendly faces, and a proper breakfast whatever time you walk in.
A Margate institution since 1946. All day breakfasts, fresh baguettes, jacket potatoes and proper lunches, cooked big and served with a smile on a quiet Cliftonville corner, away from the seafront crowds.
We were proudly named Best Breakfast in Kent, and we are home to the legendary Mega Breakfast, famously conquered by Pete Doherty. We use the finest ingredients we can get, sourced locally whenever possible, because a fry-up is only as good as what goes in the pan.
A proper mug of tea or a decent coffee goes with everything here. We do takeaway and delivery too, and if you have a big order, place it in advance and we will have it ready when you arrive.

We are walk-in only, so just pop in and we will find you a seat. If you are coming with more than six of you, or you fancy taking on the Mega, give us a ring first so we can be ready for you.

The breakfasts come up again and again: crispy bacon, sausages soft inside and crisp outside, eggs cooked properly, and portions big enough to see you through the whole day.
People keep mentioning the welcome. The team on the front are quick and friendly and make everyone feel at home, even when the room is packed.
A local favourite away from the busy seafront, popular with Margate regulars, with very reasonable prices and servings that mean nobody leaves hungry.
